Garabar’s Message on COVID-19
There’s no doubt about it, we are living through an unprecedented, historic event. Like you, we have spent the last several weeks learning about the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the pandemic that’s impacting our world. For Garabar, that means understanding how it affects our employees, as well as our customers and the communities in which we serve, and then making the necessary adjustments to our work and operations. We have one simple objective that guides us: keeping you and our employees safe. This has been at the center of our policy changes and virtually every decision we make.
If you live in Florida, you know that summer is almost here. Along with it comes rain and the hurricane season. Early predictions are leaning towards above normal activity again this year. Severe storms that can cause catestophic damage won’t be stopped by COVID-19. Therefore, we have made several moves in our business in response to the threat of the coronavirus while still serving our customers by helping to protect your homes and families.
In Florida, despite the current state and municipal policies set in place to curve the impact of COVID-19, residential construction is still considered an essential business as of March 24, 2020. Therefore, many home improvement and home repair projects can still take place. At Garabar, we are going to continue to do essential work and are operating as normal, but with added precautions. Our manufacturing partners are functioning at normal capacity, but with many additional measures to keep employees safe so we expect our lead times to remain stable.
We closely follow the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines and recommendations on the steps to take to help prevent the spread of the virus. We have shared specific instructions with our employees on the importance of washing their hands and staying home if they feel sick or are returning from any environment identified as posing a coronavirus-related risk. A strict travel policy for our employees is in place, and we have canceled all meetings with large gatherings, again to do what we can to help prevent the spread of the illness.
We have ramped up stringent cleaning routines at our office and keep hand sanitizer throughout. We have sanitizing wipes handy so that employees working in our office can keep counters and workstations continuously clean. Some of our employees are working from home and routine meetings are held by telephone or video conference. For the foreseeable future, our office doors will be kept locked and other areas restricted by limiting access. Work orders are printed and dispatch is done outside our building.
Know that we are here for you, our valued customers. Many of you want to schedule consultations, installations, or repairs with us, so for in-home consultations, we can arrange a remote consultation via phone or video conference with one of our experts if you wish. We are confident we will overcome this tough situation together as we have in the past. We’ve already seen tremendous strength and compassion from everyone including our customers, partners in the field, and employees throughout our company.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation and do all we can to protect you and our employees. If you have any concerns, we will be happy to partner with you to perform any work at your comfort level. Simply call 561-337-6798, and we will take care of it.
