What’s In Store For Us: Hurricane Season 2022 Forecast

January 3, 2022

There is no denying that virtually everyone living in South Florida is thankful that we skated through Hurricane Season 2021. Even though the coast of South Florida is among the most hurricane-prone areas in the U.S., Floridians were indeed lucky last year. The 2021 Atlantic hurricane season was the third-most active Atlantic hurricane season on record, producing 21 named storms. Thankfully, none of those storms made landfall in our state. We were also fortunate because last year was the second in a row (after 2020) and the third time in history we exhausted the designated list of twenty-one storm names.

So what does this mean? It means that Homeowners who aren’t yet fully prepared are the luckiest of all. Thank goodness they tempted fate once again and prevailed. As a homeowner, you have to ask yourself, “if I don’t upgrade to impact windows this year, will I get lucky again?” Or will the 2022 Hurricane Season be the one to break your lucky streak? A lucky streak is a series of concurrent fortunate outcomes or occurrences. The streak will end. It’s too early to tell what 2022 has in store for us, but experts agree that the frequency and severity of storms are increasing.

According to CSU

On December 9, 2021, Colorado State University issued an extended-range forecast for the 2022 hurricane season. CSU predicts slightly above-average activity with 13–16 named storms, 6–8 hurricanes, and 2–3 major hurricanes. Why take such a chance by ignoring the inevitable? By procrastinating, doesn’t logic dictate that you are putting the lives of your loved ones at stake with every passing year? Why risk losing your home altogether?

Especially since we are still in this horrible pandemic, this is no time for anyone to be without a well-protected home. Furthermore, inflation is everywhere and affects every industry. The demand is high. Materials and fuel costs are rising, so construction costs are also increasing. Consider paying for your project in installments because it is wise to do it now while interest rates are still favorable. Any economist will tell you that it is wise to pay for purchases and assets that increase in value more than the cost of financing the acquisition. There will never be a better time to invest in impact windows and doors for your home. There will never be a better time to call Garabar.
